Make Room For God.
Becoming Her: Sis, When Was the Last Time You Truly Made Room for God? π
Sis, fasting is key in my life.
And I’m not talking about a diet or trying to lose weight. I’m talking about a spiritual fast—intentionally removing distractions so I can quiet everything else and seek God.
So I want to ask you something:
When was the last time you made God more than just a priority on your list?
Because if I’m being transparent, sometimes we say God is first, but our lives tell a different story.
We wake up and grab our phones before we pray.
We check Facebook before we check in with God.
We call everybody else when something goes wrong before we talk to Him.
We give Him the few minutes we have left instead of intentionally making room for Him.
And sis, I’m talking to me too.
My Wednesday Fast ππΎ
Every Wednesday from 6 AM to 6 PM, I fast with fruit and water.
But the most important part isn’t what I’m eating or not eating.
It’s me and Him.
It’s being intentional about prayer.
It’s opening my Bible.
It’s listening.
It’s worshipping.
It’s talking to God throughout my day.
It’s saying, “God, I need You more than I need all these other things competing for my attention.”
My Faith Sisters group is fasting together right now, and there is something beautiful about knowing that my sisters and I are intentionally seeking God together.
We may all be praying about different things, but we’re connected by one purpose:
We want more of Him.
Fasting Isn’t About Performing for God
I think sometimes we can make fasting about what we are giving up.
But fasting should always bring us back to Who we are seeking.
Jesus taught about fasting in Matthew 6:16–18, and one thing that stands out to me is that fasting isn’t supposed to be about putting on a show for people. It’s personal. It’s spiritual. It’s about your heart and your relationship with God.
Because you can go without food all day and still miss the whole purpose if you never make room for God.
The hunger should remind you to pray.
The quiet should remind you to listen.
The sacrifice should remind you that God is enough.
Sis, What Has Been Taking Up God’s Space?
Maybe it’s social media.
Maybe it’s your relationship.
Maybe it’s work.
Maybe it’s money.
Maybe it’s worrying.
Maybe you’ve been so busy trying to figure everything out yourself that you haven’t stopped long enough to seek God about it.
Sometimes Becoming Her means removing some things temporarily so you can hear God more clearly.
Not because fasting forces God to give you what you want.
But because fasting can change you.
Your focus.
Your heart posture.
Your discipline.
Your dependence on Him.
Your ability to recognize the distractions that have gotten louder than His voice.
So sis, I’ll leave you with this:
When was the last time you got intentional about seeking God—not because you needed something from Him, but simply because you wanted more of Him?
Maybe it’s time to turn some things down so you can turn your attention back toward God.
Fast.
Pray.
Seek Him.
Listen.
And most importantly…
Make room for Him. π
“But when you fast…” — Matthew 6:17
Keep the faith, sis. We’re still Becoming Her—one prayer, one surrender, and one intentional decision at a time. π✨
