When God Uses Therapy Too

Becoming HER Blog The Conversation I Didn’t Want to Have Whew, sis… It’s been about eight months since I talked to my therapist. Not because I didn’t need to. If I’m being honest, I was avoiding the conversation. Sometimes we avoid the very people who hold us accountable because deep down, we already know what they’re going to say. Yesterday, we finally talked. And let me tell you… she was on me. 😂 The topic? Self-care. She reminded me of something I’ve been neglecting for a long time. You can’t pour into everyone else while your own cup is empty. That one hit me. I’ve been so focused on work, ministry, school, raising a teenager, and managing a chronic illness that somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that taking care of me could wait. But the truth is… It can’t. I’ve learned that self-care isn’t selfish. It’s stewardship. God entrusted me with this body, this mind, and this heart. If I don’t take care of them, how can I fully walk in the purpose He’s called me to? Becoming H...

Leaning on the one

Becoming HER Blog In This Season, I’m Leaning on Him Whew… Trying to work, manage a teenager, go back to school, build a ministry, and live with a chronic illness… ain’t no joke. Some days I feel like I’m giving everything I’ve got, and by the end of the day, there’s nothing left. I’ve had moments where I questioned if I could keep doing it all. Then God gently reminded me… You were never meant to carry it all by yourself. This season has taught me that strength doesn’t always look like pushing through. Sometimes strength looks like surrender. It’s waking up in pain and still whispering, “Lord, I trust You.” It’s admitting that you’re tired instead of pretending you’re okay. It’s choosing peace over pressure. It’s finally letting go of the need to control everything and allowing God to lead. I’m learning that I don’t have to have all the answers. I don’t have to know exactly how everything will work out. I just have to stay close to the One who does. So if you’re in a season where life...

Shake The Devil Off

Shake the Devil Off Becoming HER Blog There are some seasons where it feels like the enemy has launched attack after attack. Your health. Your peace. Your finances. Your relationships. Your purpose. Your mind. Sis, If I’m being honest I am in one of those seasons . I’ve cried. I’ve questioned. I’ve felt tired. I’ve wondered how much more I could carry. But one thing I’ve learned is this: The devil wants your agreement more than your defeat. If he can get you to stop praying, stop believing, stop dreaming, and stop moving, he doesn’t have to stop your purpose—you’ll stop yourself. Don’t give him that victory. He thought the attack would silence you. He thought the disappointment would make you quit. He thought the tears meant he had won. He was wrong. Embarrass the devil with your faith. Pray when you don’t feel like it. Worship while you’re still waiting. Keep planning after the setback. Keep serving after the heartbreak. Keep believing when your physical eyes don’t see the...

Sis take your foot off the brake

Becoming HER  Sis, Take Your Foot Off the Brake Yesterday, I cried. Not the kind of cry where a few tears roll down your face. I’m talking about the kind where you pour everything out to God because you’ve reached your limit. And honestly? I needed it. I’ve been pulled in so many different directions. Work. Ministry. School. Motherhood. Health. People needing me. Expectations. Deadlines. If I’m being honest, some of it was my fault. Not because people asked too much of me—but because I kept saying yes when I should’ve been saying, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Yesterday, I finally reached a place where I said, enough. I put in my 90-day notice for my position at work. Was it scary? Absolutely. But peace will often ask you to let go of what’s familiar so God can lead you somewhere healthier. For so long, I convinced myself I could keep juggling everything. I kept hitting the gas and the brake at the same time. I wanted to move forward, but fear, responsibilit...
